The electoral commission of Ghana , invited political parties and stakeholders to undergo a pilot registration exercise which was conducted nation wide .
According to the ci which regulates election 2020 , mandates all eligible voter to have the following before he /she can be registered.
1) NIA card
2) Ghana passport
3) Two Guaranters ( if you don’t have the first two)
After the pilot registration exercise, it was noticed that all those with the National identification card were able to go through the process and had there piloted voter’s ID card but those who couldn’t register with National ldentification Authority to have a card and came with two guaranters went through the process of registering but the machine couldn’t print their card. The Bono East Regional Director of the electoral commission made us to understand that , it was a technical problem which invariably can be solved by their IT personnel at the headquarters and therefore call the program to an end on an instructions he received from the top, ” because it was a national problem unless the problem is rectified we can’t continue the program” said the director. 1) Calling on Stakeholders, Traditional Authorities, NGO’s and pressure group’s to join hands and call on the electoral commission to conduct another pilot registration exercise in all the 16 regions in some selected constituencies to be fully assured of the efficiency of both the hardware and software, since the just ended exercise couldn’t register as many people it should, to test it’s efficiency.
2) Since the hardware and software components were all procure from different companies , the sub-routine must work for some period of time to enhance their compatibility , to avoid the breakdown of the machine if there is an unexpected pressure .
