Residents of Tafi Atome Dekpor and Avatime Dzokpe Tanve in the Afadzato South and Ho West Districts of the Volta Region, have petitioned government to rehabilitate the deplorable road network and broken bridges over Ahavor, Tobi and Bunya rivers to enhance socio-economic and smooth accessibility in their communities as they pose death trap to them.
Disclosing this in an interaction with Anthony Isaac Princewil Egbeako,a freelance journalist, the residents expressed their disappointment towards previous and current governments neglection to renovate these infrastructural facilities which had cost them much over the years making life unbearable for them as women and children fall victims whenever these rivers overflow their banks as several attempts made to curb challenge with authorities.
Farmers and traders on the otherhand,also shared their grievances as to how they find it difficult to cross the rivers to their respective workplace located beyond the bridges whenever there is a heavy downpour as part of the footbridges had been washed away by they rivers.
They further noted that they have been cut-off from markets to make earns-meet due to unavailable of vehicles to convey farm produce and other goods as get rotten on the farm.
They added that
They earn nothing as transportation fares go high unexpectedly by motorists who convey products to markets as the road network is in it’s deplorable state.
The residents therefore appealed to the Akuffo Addo led-government through the Feeder Roads and Bridges Department, Afadzato South and Ho West District Assemblies, DCEs, MPs, Philanthropists among others to come to their rescue to fix the deplorable road network and broken bridges to ameliorate their plights.
